Priest Personnel Assignments

This week Msgr. Michael Shugrue, diocesan administrator, announced the new priest personnel assignments which typically take place around this time. I received word from the Diocese that, in addition to being assigned full time at Mother Teresa Catholic Mission, I will be assigned as Chaplain to Cardinal Gibbons High School.First of all, I am most grateful to be full-time now at Mother Teresa on the weekends. We are moving forward and with each step down the road the momentum builds.

I will no longer serve as the Parochial Vicar at St. Michael which will allow me to focus all my energy at Mother Teresa. As we yet do not have a place to offer daily Mass and with our continued limited office space, serving as Chaplain at Cardinal Gibbons will allow me the opportunity to not only offer daily Mass but also be of assistance to Mr. Jason Curtis, the Principal of the Cardinal Gibbons community.

I am very much looking forward to this new challenge and do not see it in anyway detracting from my work and focus at Mother Teresa. I am grateful to Msgr. Shugrue and the Priest Personnel Committee for their vote of confidence in my ability to do both jobs and I thank you, the community of Mother Teresa for your support as I work to minister to the students and faculty of Cardinal Gibbons in addition to our humble but growing parish community.

I ask for your prayers and encouragement along the way.

Fr. Daniel

“Do ordinary things with extraordinary love.” –  Mother Teresa
Our Mission – Mother Teresa Catholic Mission is a welcoming community, engaged in service to Christ and His people with great love.

Along with the many vital ministries we are engaged in as a faith community, we will give particular focus to the following objectives in this calendar year:

  1. Continuing work toward achieving parish status while exploring the possibility of a building on Yates Store land through our site-preparation planning and construction requirements for future land use.
  2. Further establish our Faith Formation programs for adults and children including moving programs under the direction and responsibility of Mother Teresa staff and volunteers.
  3. Grow and improve our communication efforts both within and outside of Mother Teresa community through all means available to our parish community with the establishment of a Communication Committee and development of communication strategies for our parish.

”St. Teresa of Calcutta, you allowed the thirsting love of Jesus on the Cross to become a living flame within you, and so became the light of His love to all. Obtain from the Heart of Jesus for our Mission to become a Parish. Teach us to allow Jesus to penetrate and possess our whole being so completely that our lives, too, may radiate His light and love to others.  Amen.”

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cause of Our Joy, pray for us.

St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
